The state has more than a billion dollars waiting to be claimed, and the Arizona Department of Revenue wants to find the owners.
In most cases, the money came from dormant bank accounts, safe deposit box belongings sold, forgotten or uncashed checks.
It's called unclaimed property, and the state holds it for owners and their families for 35 years.

In an attempt to find owners, the Department of Revenue gave us the names of five Arizonans who do have money waiting. They are:
Harriette V. Coker - Phoenix, AZ
Milo Willis - Chandler, AZ
Howard F. Kale Jr. - Scottsdale, AZ
Marshall C. Jones - Sun City, AZ
Lester Spangler - Buckeye, AZ
If the person has passed away, a family member can start the process to claim the funds.
