PHOENIX — When choosing a health care plan for your family, you probably have dozens of questions. Good news: there are places across the state to get free personalized help.
Do you get insurance through your employer? If, so your HR Department will be the best place to head with your questions.
If you're not one of those people, you're not alone. Nearly half of Arizonans get their insurance elsewhere. In fact, a recent study shows 300,000 Arizonans qualify for free insurance, but have not applied. Many think they make too much money.
Allen Gjersvig, with the Arizona Alliance for Community Health Centers, says it's the job of people like him to let people know if they qualify for free or low cost health insurance. He works as an assistor. They are individuals that can guide and advise you while you shop.
You can find an assistor through CoverAZ.Org. You enter your zip code and it will show you anyone available to help within a certain distance. In addition to assistors, you can talk with brokers. They often work for insurance companies, but are required to act in your best interest.
CoverAZ.Gov is also reachable by phone at 800-377-3536. They can help you find an assistor or broker and schedule an appointment. Enrollment through the marketplace ends on December 15, 2019.
Above all, these services should all be free.
