GLENDALE, AZ — A man has turned himself in after allegedly hitting a 13-year-old boy riding his bicycle and fleeing the scene of the crash Thursday night in Glendale.
The crash happened near 47th and Northern avenues around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Glendale police say the teen was riding his bike with other juveniles in the area when they began crossing the intersection. The victim was leading the group when he was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop after the crash.
Police say the teen victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital where he is in “grave and critical condition" Friday morning. Glendale police did not have an update on the teen's condition when announcing the arrest Sunday morning.
Police say 27-year-old Joshua Holbert saw a Friday press conference and a police presence in and around his apartment complex which made him decide to turn himself in.
He was officially processed on Saturday.
