PHOENIX — A man was shot and killed near 64th Street and Greenway Road Tuesday night.

Officials say the man, identified as 24-year-old Dylan Forbes, was pronounced dead at the scene.

During an investigation, police learned Forbes and two others were inside a vehicle when a confrontation occurred, resulting in a shooting.

The alleged shooter, identified as a 24-year-old man, left the scene and called police. He was detained and claimed he shot Forbes in self-defense, police said. He was booked into jail for second-degree murder.

The third person that was in the vehicle stayed at the scene. It's unknown if they are facing any charges.

An investigation remains ongoing.
