PHOENIX — After expanding a search for a possible dead body that was spotted near the Salt River last week, Phoenix police say a recovery has been made.
Police say they were flagged down by a witness who said they saw the body in a storm drain area near Priest Drive on Friday afternoon.
As of Saturday morning, no evidence of a body had been found and officials brought in additional resources to expand the search over a larger area.
On Monday, as crews were searching the area near 56th and Van Buren streets, a body was found, according to Phoenix police.
Officials have not provided any further information on the body or any possible identity.
The person's death is currently a "death investigation," and it's unknown if any foul play is suspected.
