PHOENIX — A 16-year-old girl has died after a crash in Phoenix near 44th Street and Greenway Road.
Phoenix police say, on Friday around 8:15 p.m. witnesses reported seeing a vehicle, being driven by a 17-year-old girl, run a red light while traveling west on Greenway Road.
The vehicle crashed into another vehicle, being driven by a 43-year-old woman, that was going north on 44th Street.
The 17-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Her current condition is unknown. Her passenger, 16-year-old Anahi Gomez-Estrea, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to Phoenix PD.
The 43-year-old woman driver was also taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
Police say impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash and the investigation remains ongoing.
