PHOENIX — A one-year-old girl has died after being pulled from a bathtub in Phoenix.

On Tuesday, Phoenix firefighters were called to a home near 27th and Glenrosa avenues for reports of a possible drowning.

By the time emergency crews arrived, the girl was pulled from the water and CPR was initiated.

Officials say the girl was underwater for an unknown amount of time before she was pulled out.

During the investigation, police learned the boyfriend of the child's mother was watching the victim and her three siblings.

When the incident happened officials say the man left the bathroom while the toddler was in the tub and left one of the other siblings in care of her.

A time later the man was alerted by one of the siblings and said something was wrong with the toddler.

The man pulled her out and called 911. She was rushed to a hospital where she died.

We spoke to a neighbor who says the little girl was a happy toddler, always smiling.

“They just moved in, a couple of months ago,” she said.

The woman didn't want to be identified but told us she would always see the children playing in the complex's courtyard.

"It’s so saddening. It’s more saddening because this is a child," she added.

Family friends also say the toddler's mother was working when this happened.

An investigation remains underway.

No charges have been announced by the Phoenix Police Department.
