PHOENIX — A large fire is burning at a landfill and recycling facility near I-17 and 7th Avenue.
Firefighters from Phoenix and multiple other cities were called to the fire early in the afternoon on Saturday.
Phoenix fire officials say their firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the building.
They initially had firefighters battling the fire from the inside but quickly got out of the building and went defensive to protect nearby structures.
About 75 firefighters are battling the large fire, and the scene has been upgraded to a third alarm.
So far, there are no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Fire officials are asking people to stay clear of the area, adding there are traffic restrictions in place near the fire.
