British Airways computer failure impacts flights around the world

International carrier British Airways is currently in the middle of a widespread outage of its check-in computer system.

Customers around the globe have complained of long lines and delays while employees at the counter work to check passengers in, CNN Money reported

The company's Twitter account responded to dozens of upset fliers, says its IT staff was working to resolve the issue.

At Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, a Monday night flight was delayed in taking off by 75 minutes. Officials said the delay might have been related to the computer outage.

According to an online listing of arrivals and departures at Sky Harbor, it did not appear that flights on which British Airways was a codeshare were experiencing any problems.

A message seeking comment from British Airways was not immediately returned Monday night.

The delay comes almost exactly one month after a similar outage impacted nearly half of all Delta Airlines' 6,000 scheduled daily flights
