Customers help California donut shop owner sell out so he can be with recovering wife

A California donut shop is selling out of donuts, forcing the owner to close early — and it’s exactly what customers are trying to do.

It’s all to help the owner, John Chhan, be with his wife and longtime business partner, who is recovering from a brain aneurysm.

According to ABC7, the Seal Beach Donut City shop has been baking up breakfast favorites by the Chhans for 30 years.

Chhan told ABC7, “it’s a lot of fun, we work together, we stay together.”

However, last month, his wife was rushed to the hospital with an aneurysm and has been recovering in a nursing facility ever since. He's been running Donut City without the help of his partner and it has been hard on him.

Customers are trying to help Chhan be by his wife’s side, so they’re buying everything he has for sale so he runs out of stock and has to close the doors for the day.

Chhan told ABC7 that he’s very appreciative of the community’s efforts to help his wife during her recovery.
