Facebook says current outage is 'not related to a DDoS attack'

Facebook and Instagram are having technical issues as users reported problems with the social media sites Wednesday. 

Facebook posted to Twitter reassuring users that the site would be back online. It also said the outage is not related to a DDoS attack.

"We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible," the Facebook account said on Twitter .

According to  downdetector.com,Facebook users in the United States are reporting issues with posting, live streaming features and a slew of other technical difficulties.

The live outage map on downdetector.com shows outages spread across the U.S.

While some are reporting slower loading times or the inability to send messages, some are saying they can't login to the site at all or use the app.

Users also took to Twitter to report the issues (and make the traditional #FacebookDown jokes, obviously.)

Facebook users logging on to social media site reported getting a message stating that the site was doing "required maintenance." According to the message, Facebook will be up and running "within a few minutes" but people are still reporting problems with the site.

According to downdetector.com, users are also having problems with Instagram .

Some are reporting problems with the app loading slowly, feeds not refreshing and some can't login at all.
