In a series of more than 20 tweets, Kathleen Zellner, Steven Avery's attorney, laid out an argument Thursday for a new suspect in the high-profile murder case.

"I'm going to walk you through what I've learned through my investigation that you didn't see in the show," Zellner said.

The Chicago attorney described in detail the events of the day of Teresa Halbach's murder - October 31, 2005 - and what role each key witness played that day.

You can read her whole thread here.

Zellner says "the killer is the person who had the access and opportunity to plant Steven Avery's fresh blood in Teresa Halbach's car."

Earlier Thursday, Zellner teased the news on her Twitter account and said the announcement would be made at 12:30 p.m. Thursday:

"Buckle up," Zellner tweeted.

Avery's case has attracted increased national scrutiny ever since Netflix released its documentary series "Making a Murderer." Season 2 of the series dropped last month.

Avery is currently incarcerated in the Manitowoc County jail for the murder of Teresa Halbach.
