No members of Congress is permitted to travel by government transportation methods until the end of the government shutdown.
That's according to a new federal memo that came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump told Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi she may not take a planned trip overseas to Brussels and Afghanistan using government travel options. The memo was written by Acting OMB Director Russell Vought and sent to all heads of executive groups and agencies that are federal.
Trump was responding to Pelosi uninviting him to speak at the annual State of the Union address.
The back-and-forthing has been going on for awhile now as the government remains shut down due to Democrats leading the House and not passing a government spending bill that includes $5 billion for the President's proposed wall at the US-Mexico border.
