A meteorite has reportedly struck a small town in the western part of Cuba, with loud explosions heard in the vicinity of where the small meteorite landed.

A CNN reporter said that the meteorite landed on a home in Viñales, Pinar del Río. The meteorite did not cause any injuries.

The National Weather Service office out of Key West, Florida, confirmed that it received reports from residents of the Florida Keys who witnessed a meteor in the sky.

A meteorite is described as a small piece of rock from outer space that enters the Earth's atmosphere and hits the ground. Rocks from outer space, otherwise known as meteors, enter the Earth's atmosphere frequently, but most burn up in Earth's atmosphere before landing.

It is unknown exactly how large the meteorite that landed in Cuba was before it landed.
