As part of News Literacy Week, ABC15 is hosting a digital town hall on navigating misinformation in the digital age.
The News Literacy Project and The E.W. Scripps Company are teaming up to launch a national public awareness campaign to promote news literacy and the role of a free press in American democracy.
This comes as information – and misinformation – surge around recent national events.
ABC15 spoke with journalism students to get their understanding of how they handle misinformation. Watch the full story in the player above.
The campaign is part of the second annual National News Literacy Week, which runs from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29. The week aims to promote news literacy as a fundamental life skill and to provide the public with the tools needed to be an informed and empowered populace.
On January 28, ABC15's Justin Pazera will be speaking with Arizona State University professors Kristy Roschke and Nadya Bliss to discuss how you can navigate misinformation online and tips for improving reliability of information that is consumed.
Watch the town hall in the player below and on ABC15's Facebook and YouTube pages on Thursday at noon.
