PHOENIX — On Wednesday afternoon, the Phoenix City Council approved $2 million in funding for pedestrian safety improvements.
In 2018, 112 pedestrians were killed in Phoenix and the city has seen a 200 percent increase in deaths in the last decade.
The Office of Pedestrian Safety is looking to reduce these numbers by updating street lighting, adding more HAWK lights, updating crosswalks, community engagement, education, research, etc.
