PHOENIX — A man has been arrested for a murder that took place on December 13 near the 1-17 and Glendale Avenue.
According to police, officers responded to a call of a shooting in the area around 9:30 p.m.
Police reportedly found a victim, 35-year-old Javon Hatcher, with a gunshot wound when they arrived on scene.
Hatcher was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators said the victim was involved in an altercation with the suspect, Rodney Vinson, 44, before he was shot and killed.
Vinson was arrested on December 17 when police responded to a trespassing call near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Police say that Vinson is also a suspect in the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl near 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue in July 2001.
Vinson is facing charges of second-degree murder and sexual assault.
