PHOENIX — ABC15 continues to track the results in Arizona's 2024 primary election as several major races remain undecided.

9:43 a.m.

Jerry Sheridan is projected to win the Republican nomination for Maricopa County Sheriff, according to Decision Desk. The Democratic primary race has not yet been called.

9:30 a.m.

Rachel Mitchell, first elected as Maricopa County Attorney in 2022, will face Tamika Wooten (D) in November as she hopes to retain her seat, according to Decision Desk.

4:40 a.m., Wednesday, July 31

Justin Heap is projected to win the Maricopa County Recorder Republican Primary, according to Associated Press. He will face (D) Tim Stringham.

10:15 p.m.

Ruben Gallego spoke with ABC15 on the future of the Arizona Senate Race.

8:30 p.m.

Ruben Gallego, (D), who will now run against Kari Lake in the Arizona Senate Race, released the following statement after Lake was projected as the winner of the Republican primary:

“In the 554 days since we launched this campaign, Arizonans in every corner of the state have made clear that they want a U.S. Senator who can bring people together to defend abortion rights, cut costs for families, protect our water future, and take care of our veterans — and that’s exactly what I intend to do. “From now until November, I welcome all Arizonans — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike — to join our team and help defeat Kari Lake and her dangerous plan to ban abortion and hurt Arizonans.” 

8:25 p.m.

Juan Ciscomani is the projected winner for the U.S. House District 6 race nomination, defeating Kathleen Winn, according to Decision Desk.

8:20 p.m.

Kari Lake is projected to win the Republican primary election Senate nomination over Mark Lamb and will run against Ruben Gallego (D) in November.

8:16 p.m.

Eli Crane is the projected GOP winner for the U.S. House District 2 race nomination, defeating Jack Smith, according to Decision Desk.

8:10 p.m.

David Schweikert is the projected GOP winner for the U.S. House District 1 race nomination, defeating Kim George, according to Decision Desk.

U.S. HOUSE DISTRICT 1 2024 REPUBLICAN PRIMARY

8 p.m.

6 p.m.

Just before 6 p.m., Maricopa County saw 65,475 election ballots counted.

Of those, 50,158 were Republican and 14,084 were Democrat.

5:20 p.m.

ABC15's Ford Hatchett stopped by voting locations across the Valley. There have been no reported issues, voting locations will remain open until 7 p.m.

Justice Department announces it will monitor compliance with federal voting rights laws in Maricopa County for the July 30 primary election:

"The Justice Department enforces the federal voting rights laws that protect the rights of all citizens to access the ballot. The department regularly deploys its staff to monitor for compliance with federal civil rights laws in elections in communities all across the country. In addition, the division also deploys federal observers from the Office of Personnel Management, where authorized by federal court order.

"The Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section, working with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, enforces the civil provisions of federal statutes that protect the right to vote, including the Voting Rights Act, National Voter Registration Act, Help America Vote Act, Civil Rights Act and Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act."
