There are only a few improvement projects scheduled for this weekend (June 5-8) that will close stretches of freeways or restrict lanes, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Here's ADOT's Freeway Weekend Travel Advisory:

  • Southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) closed between Elliot Road and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 8) for diamond grinding to smooth pavement. DETOUR: Traffic can detour along southbound Price frontage road. Alternate routes include southbound McClintock Drive or Dobson Road.
  • Southbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) closed between Lower Buckeye and Baseline roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 8) for rubberized asphalt paving. Southbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Van Buren Street and Buckeye Road also closed. Westbound I-10 HOV lane ramp to southbound Loop 202 also closed. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes including eastbound I-10 through the downtown Phoenix and Tempe areas. Please Note: If this southbound closure is completed ahead of schedule, plans call for closing northbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) between Lower Buckeye Road and Interstate 10 from 1 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 8) for lane striping. Traffic can detour to either northbound 51st or 67th avenues to access I-10.
  • Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed overnight between Seventh Street and Cave Creek Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (June 6) for widening project. DETOUR: Traffic will detour along the eastbound Beardsley frontage road. Allow extra travel time.
  • Interstate 17 narrowed to one or two lanes in either direction overnight near Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday nights (June 7-12) for interchange reconstruction. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes including 19th Avenue between Deer Valley and Jomax roads.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
