PHOENIX — There is only one major closure scheduled for the Valley freeways this weekend, and it's on Interstate 10. The construction continues at the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between 67th and 51st avenues from Friday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 4 a.m.

The Arizona Department of Transportation Weekend Travel Advisory states:

Drivers should allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes and focus on safe driving while the following closure is in place:

  • Eastbound Interstate 10 closed between 67th and 51st avenues from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday(Feb. 4) for bridge work at the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange work zone. Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues also closed. 59th Avenue closed in both directions near the I-10 overpass. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including northbound and eastbound Loop 101 in the West Valley. While eastbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street will serve as local alternate routes, drivers on eastbound I-10 should consider exiting ahead of the closure and using other alternate routes to limit delays.

Keep in mind, the Waste Management Phoenix Open is taking place at TPC Scottsdale all weekend long. Expect heavier traffic on Loop 101 around Hayden Rd., Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. and Bell Rd. Click here for more on ways to avoid delays.
