We are still in the middle of this unprecedented pandemic, but one Arizona State University professor is already working to study the impact it's having on students and their families.

FULL SECTION: Everything you need to know about coronavirus

Dustin Pardini is a professor of criminology and criminal justice at ASU. He is partnering with dozens of districts across the Valley to survey middle and high school students.

He has 1,500 families enrolled so far and says the responses are already bringing issues surrounding financial struggles and social isolation to light.

"How are they coping with that?" said Pardini. "Are they getting more anxious or depressed? Are they getting more stressed? Are they having problems with their sleep? You know, basic kind of social adjustment issues."

The findings will help lawmakers and educators craft intervention and prevention programs.

If you would like to take part, check with your school district to see if they are involved.

You can also email Dustin.Pardini@asu.edu for more details.

Students and parents who complete the survey will get $10 Amazon gift cards.
