Arizona transportation officials are giving advance notice of a planned overnight closure of a 21-mile stretch of Interstate 10's westbound lanes in southeastern Arizona later this month.
The Department of Transportation says closure of westbound I-10 between State Route 83 east of Tucson and State Route 90 west of Benson will result in a 67-mile detour for Tucson-bound travelers.
The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. March 22 to 5 a.m. March 23 for replacement of a bridge at Davidson Canyon.
ADOT says travelers should expect up to two hours of additional travel time and should consider avoiding that stretch of I-10 during that time.
The planned work includes lifting large concrete girders off truck beds and then installing them.
Another overnight closure for is planned in April.
