A single phone call from a concerned drive along Interstate 10 is what led an Arizona state trooper to a man and woman wanted in the alleged kidnapping of two children from Philadelphia.
Authorities said Antoinette Wong, 28, abducted her two children, ages 2 and 7, by force on Jan. 12 with the help of another man, 34-year-old Keith Rogers.
Officials had been looking for the two boys and suspects for a month. It's not exactly clear how they were able to track the two to Casa Grande, Ariz.
The state trooper who made that traffic stop, Ashton Shewey, spoke to reports on Tuesday. He said Rogers began lying about his identity, which made the trooper suspicious from the beginning.
"Why you're trying to lie to the police and give them a false name that's automatically going to tip you off. Why? Why do you not want me to know who you are?" he said. "Typically a normal person you ask them what's their name and everything is truthful."
The boys are safe.
