Police are investigating after students at Casa Grande Middle School may have taken powerful narcotics after a fellow classmate brought the drugs to school.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Casa Grande police were called out to the school located near Pinal Avenue and McMurray Boulevard after a family member discovered they were missing an unknown quantity of Oxycodone and Morphine pills.

The relative believed a 13-year-old student at the school may have taken the drugs into her possession. When police arrived at the school, staff members determined six students, between the ages of 13 and 14, were displaying side effects consistent with those of Oxycodone and Morphine pills.

Of those six students, the student suspected of bringing the drugs to school was also showing symptoms  consistent with the drugs. Police discovered another student also had pills in his possession, but was not displaying any symptoms.

Police and school officials are investigating the incident.
