ELOY, AZ — Two people were arrested on I-10 last week after authorities found hundreds of fentanyl pills in their vehicle.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 10 in the Eloy area around 10:45 p.m. on September 4 for a traffic violation.

Pinal County says the driver, 54-year-old Donovan Salas, consented to a search of his vehicle. During the search, the deputy found two packages of pills that were believed to be fentanyl. PCSO says Salas and his passenger, 43-year-old James Lee, initially denied knowing anything about the pills before later admitting they intended to sell them.

Salas and Lee told investigators they had approximately 500 pills between the two bags.

Both have been arrested and charged with several drug-related charges.
