FLORENCE, AZ — An Arizona man was sentenced to 19 1/2 years in prison for a deadly wrong-way crash.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports 20-year-old Jaeden Spurgeon was sentenced Monday in Pinal County Superior Court after pleading guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault.

Globe police had pursued Spurgeon on U.S. Highway 60 in April 2017.

Police say his car reached speeds of 90 mph. They called off the chase near Superior. Authorities say Spurgeon crashed about 15 minutes later.

The collision killed Jennifer Kurkowski of Mesa and injured others.

Authorities say five drivers had called 911 to report the car driving in the wrong direction before the crash.

Spurgeon asked Kurkowski's family for forgiveness at the sentencing hearing, telling the judge that he takes "full responsibility" for his actions.
