The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed they are having some budget issues.
PCSO said in the past six years their office has taken a 12 percent budget reduction because of revenue shortfalls with Pinal County.
According to PCSO, a budget cut of $1.8 million took effect in July and it now requires a hiring freeze.
There are 65 open positions within the sheriff’s office that have been frozen, due to budget cuts.
In addition to the hiring freeze, PCSO also plans to sell one of their helicopters. The 1997 MC 600 helicopter sale will return about $900,000 to help fund the aviation unit.
