A student has been arrested for having a semi-automatic gun in his backpack while at Florence High School Wednesday.
The student reportedly showed the gun to another student while in the bathroom. That student then told a teacher that the suspect had the gun in his bag.
The student was brought to the office and the gun was found in his bag without incident.
Police arrived shortly after and arrested the teen.
Charges have been forwarded to the Pinal County Juvenile Courts for minor in possession of a firearm and possessing a deadly weapon on school grounds.
The reason for the teen carrying the weapon is still under investigation. He has been suspended pending an expulsion hearing.
