A woman was arrested at Arizona’s Port of San Luis, accused of trying to use her daughter to smuggle cocaine from Mexico into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the woman and her three kids were selected for additional screening on Friday while trying to cross into the U.S.
A CBP canine alerted officials to a 12-year-old girl, which led officers to find nearly $25,000 in cocaine wrapped around her torso. The girl's 35-year-old mother was arrested, and their vehicle and drugs were seized.
The case has been turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
