Fire crews from several agencies worked quickly Thursday morning to stop the spread of a brush fire on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation reservation.
According to Fort McDowell Police Department Chief Jesse Crabtree, firefighters from Fort McDowell Fire, Rural Metro and Apache Junction were on scene around 4 a.m.
The fire broke out in an area near Captain Coffee Trail and Su Ruma Road and burned two acres with homes nearby. Those homes were evacuated as a precaution.
No injuries were reported and no buildings are known to be damaged.
A person of interest is in custody, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
