UPDATE: On March 21, 2024, Mohave Co. Sheriff's officials identified 57-year-old Kenneth Gene Snyder as a suspect in the January 2018 deaths of Jerry and Susan McFalls.

Their remains were discovered in October 2018 in the desert area of the Virgin River Gorge. Through DNA, detectives were able to positively identify them as Jerry and Susan.

During an extensive investigation, authorities identified a witness who reported Snyder went to the McFalls residence where an argument ensued leading to a shooting. He then reportedly removed their bodies from the residence. MCSO has determined Snyder is responsible for the death of Jerry and Susan.

On June 1, 2023, Snyder was shot and killed during a domestic violence assault on his property. No arrest for the deaths of Jerry and Susan McFalls could be made due to Snyder's death.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office has identified human remains found north of the Colorado River in northwestern Arizona.

They say the remains are those of 63-year-old Susan Marie McFalls from Littlefield.

The county Medical Examiner's Office was able to identify the remains using medical records and a medical device the woman had.

The remains were found on Oct. 18 near the Virgin River Gorge in the Arizona Strip area near the Utah border.

Authorities say another body was found in the same area, but hasn't been identified yet.

The remains were forwarded to the FBI crime lab for scientific examination.

McFalls and her husband Jerry went missing in January.

Investigators say the couple's phones, identifications and other personal items were still inside their Littlefield home near the Virgin River Gorge.
