Authorities say three corrections officers needed hospital treatment after being attacked by an inmate at the state prison in Florence.
Arizona Department of Corrections officials say an inmate in a medium-custody unit at the Eyman complex assaulted the corrections officers Wednesday.
The inmate was restrained by other staff members.
The corrections officers were treated for their injuries at a hospital and released.
The name of the inmate involved in the assault wasn't released Thursday.
Corrections officials say they're investigating the incident and will pursue appropriate criminal charges after their investigation is completed.
Eyman is one of 13 prison facilities operated by the corrections department around Arizona.
