Authorities say a suspect shot and wounded by a Border Patrol agent in southeastern Arizona during a struggle was one of two men who ran from a truck carrying more than a ton of marijuana.
A Customs and Border Protection spokesman says the shooting occurred Monday after agents responding to a sensor alert found the truck stuck in mud near Apache, which is about 35 miles northeast of Douglas.
CBP spokesman Rob Daniels says the man assaulted the agent as he was being arrested.
The agent feared for his life and shot the man.
Daniels says the wounded man remains hospitalized in stable condition after treatment of an upper torso wound.
A second man who ran from the truck was arrested.
The names of the two suspects haven't been released.
