A Chino Valley woman was arrested Monday accused of setting her home on fire while her husband was asleep in the bedroom, according to police.
The Chino Valley Police and Chino Valley Fire Departments responded to a trailer home near Road 3 North and State Route 89 after receiving multiple 911 calls. It was determined that everyone had made it out of the home.
Authorities said 41-year-old Carol Wwhite was drinking alcohol throughout the day and at some point became upset and got into an argument with her husband. She then allegedly told others in the house that she was going to burn the trailer down after her husband went to bed.
After that, the home was on fire. Fire investigators said the cause of the fire has not been determined, however, it is suspected that an accelerant was used.
Police said White's husband woke up due to the smoke in the home and escaped with the help of a neighbor through a bedroom window. He sustained minor injuries. Another person in the house was able to escape through a door.
White was booked into Yavapai County Jail on charges of arson, aggravated assault and endangerment. The case has been referred to the Yavapai County Attorney's Office for further review and additional charges.
