An eastern Arizona sheriff's department says skeletal remains found in a remote area are believed to be those of a Scottsdale woman reported missing in June.

Navajo County Chief Deputy Sheriff James Molesa says it appears 69-year-old Jean Lyn died of exposure after abandoning her SUV when it got stuck about 14 miles northwest of Carrizo.

Carrizo is on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation along U.S. 60 between Globe and Show Low.

Lyn had told people she planned to travel to the Payson area to buy property. Her cellphone last connected with a tower on June 8 near Show Low.

Hikers found the SUV July 10 and searchers found Lyn's purse and articles of clothing earlier this month.

Searchers found the remains Saturday about five miles from her stuck vehicle.
