A small earthquake was recorded Friday night in Maricopa County.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.8 earthquake struck just after 7:50 p.m. in an area northeast of Rio Verde, on the east side of the McDowell Mountains.
The specific coordinates for the epicenter are 33.778°N and 111.563°W, placing it between Lake Bartlett and SR 87, and 5 kilometers beneath the earth's surface.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage as a result of the earthquake.
