TUCSON, Ariz. - Sierra Vista police arrested a man Sunday on suspicion of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.
Police say 42-year-old Joel Zubiate hid in his ex-girlfriend's home, where he held her against her will. He put holes in her walls and tried to set the home on fire.
Zubiate also strangled the woman and tried to drown her in a bathtub. Police had been looking for Zubiate for attacking the woman on May 22. The woman said Zubiate had been stalking her for months.
He was booked into Cochise County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder in a domestic violence case. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
