A substitute teacher has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old boy in class at the Coronado School, south of Sierra Vista on Friday.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office heard about an assault around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon. When deputies arrived they requested medical assistance for 50-year-old Walter Benny, the substitute teacher. Deputies say he experienced a medical issue after the alleged assault.

Benny was taken to the hospital for treatment, and was later booked into the Cochise County Jail on the assault charge.

The investigation by CCSO is still underway.
