A large-scale rescue operation was launched after 17 people became trapped during a flash flood in the Tanque Verde Falls area Sunday evening.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says the group called for help just after 5:30 p.m. As of 4:00 a.m. Monday, rescuers pulled 15 people, including a 4-year-old boy, from the area. At one point, rescuers used a helicopter to lift people to safety.
Two adults who were still trapped were rescued as of 6:45 a.m. Monday. Officials tell ABC15 sister station KGUN9 that they were not injured or in danger and were given food, water and blankets.
