The Tucson area is under a flash flood warning as a storm that has already brought an inch of rain continues.
The National Weather Service issued the warning for Tucson, Oro Valley and Catalina until 12:45 p.m. on Friday.
It says an inch of rain fell within 30 minutes around the University of Arizona and that storms will continue throughout the day.
Firefighters had to rescue a man on Thursday as his SUV got stranded in floodwaters at a Tucson wash.
Authorities say this marked the second time in five days that firefighters had to rescue someone from a vehicle stranded by flooding.
Other areas of southern Arizona were experiencing heavy rain as well.
