TUCSON, Ariz. - State agencies are assisting Tucson Police in investigating a reported kidnapping.

Tucson police officers were called to the west side around 1 a.m. Thursday after 22-year-old Dionte Flores allegedly assaulted the mother of his infant child at a home.

Flores then left with the child and was reportedly armed with a knife.

Arizona Department of Public Safety tells our Phoenix sister station, ABC15, another agency located the vehicle near U.S. 70 and milepost 290. A chase was initiated but came to an end. DPS Troopers were then involved in taking Flores into custody near Globe and the child was not harmed.

The woman assaulted in Tucson is in the hospital. TPD says she is stable condition with serious injuries.

Charges against Flores are pending.
