Firefighters had to rescue a man who was stranded in his SUV as floodwaters rushed through a wash in Tucson.

The rescue happened late Thursday after the man called 911 and told dispatchers that he was afraid he was going to die as water entered his vehicle.

Crews used a ladder from one of the fire trucks to reach the stranded driver, who was shaken but uninjured.

Authorities say this marked the second time in five days that firefighters had to rescue someone from a vehicle stranded by flooding.

The National Weather Service said Friday that more moisture will continue to stream north from Mexico, resulting in scattered to numerous afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

Forecasters also warned that motorists should not try to cross roadways that are covered with water.
