TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson Police have arrested 30-year-old Breanna Henson for on one charge of child abuse, a class four felony, following an investigation into a suspicious infant death in Eastside Tucson on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Per Sgt. Pete Dugan of TPD, the mother, Henson, has been booked in Pima County Jail.

The original call that East Division police responded to was a welfare check.

When officers arrived at the apartment in the 7600 block of E. Apple Tree Drive, near the intersection of Irvington and Pantano, they discovered a deceased infant girl. The 8-month-old girl, Patricia Henson, had puncture wounds and scrapes on her body and TPD said the injuries are consistent with being caused by a dog. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

However, the cause of death has not been released yet.

Dugan said that the mother was intoxicated at the time of the incident, in which the dog was also present, and woke up to find the baby deceased.

The dog has been taken to Pima Animal control for testing and police are conducting an autopsy tommorrow.

The scene is in the 7600 block of E. Apple Tree Drive, near the intersection of Irvington and Pantano.

Police are still conducting an investigation.
