YUMA, AZ — Authorities arrested a Glendale man for trying to smuggle a small amount of fentanyl into the country from Mexico.
In a news release, Customs and Border Protection says a 23-year-old returning to the U.S. through the San Luis port of entry was stopped Tuesday afternoon. CBP says a narcotics detection canine smelled a scent it was trained to detect coming from the man's groin.
When searched, agents found a single package weighing 0.12 pounds, worth an estimated $1,740.
The drugs were seized and the case was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
No further details about the case were immediately available.
