YUMA, AZ — Yuma Fire Department says a 2-year-old boy is dead after a weekend drowning.

Emergency crews were called to a home in south-central Yuma on Saturday just before midnight.

Paramedics arrived after a responding police officer performed CPR on the child, who was found unresponsive in a backyard pool.

Despite life-saving measures, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

It's unclear how the child got into the pool or how long he was in the water.

No further information was released.

This incident happened one week after a 3-year-old was pronounced dead following a separate drowning incident in Yuma.
