A man has been arrested in Yuma after his 9-year-old grandson fell out of the vehicle he was driving.
Yuma police said Thursday that Jose Antonio Reyes Arias has been booked into Yuma County Detention Center on charges of endangerment and DUI.
According to police, Reyes Arias was driving on a street Wednesday around 4 p.m. when the boy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, fell out of the car.
Investigators say Reyes Arias was slow in stopping and getting out of the car to attend to his grandson.
They say a retired paramedic happened to be in the area and saw the boy.
The child was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
It was not known if Reyes Arias had an attorney.
