Yuma PD: Amber Alert couple did not commit crime

Posted

Police say a couple who hid their children from the Arizona Department of Child Services did not commit criminal actions in the case.

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday night for the kids--ages 13, 11 and 2--who were safely located at a grandparent's home in Yuma soon after.

According to Yuma Police Department, parents Evan and Alma Short were not with the children and were being sought by authorities for custodial interference.

They were last seen driving a black 2016 Dodge Ram truck with plates reading "F7003B", according to the original Amber Alert.

Yuma police told ABC15 on Thursday they are no longer looking for the parents.

DCS will continue to look into the case.
