ANTHEM, AZ — Workers with the Daisy Mountain Fire Department say they’ve contained a two-acre brush fire on the I-17 near Sunset Point. Crews with the state land and Bureau of Land Management also assisted with the fire.
In the process, they were able to save the famous “I-17 Christmas tree” that was in danger of being burnt in the fire.
Traffic was delayed in both directions for several miles during the fire Friday morning.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
After the fire was contained, firefighters posed with the popular tree, which is decorated by anonymous citizens every year to celebrate Christmas.
