A Golden Retriever is being credited with saving his owner from a rattlesnake in Anthem on Friday.
Paula Godwin says she was on a hike with her dogs near 7th Street and Carefree when she almost stepped on a rattlesnake.
She says there was no warning rattle or anything like that, and the snake was well camouflaged.
Had Todd not seen the snake and jumped in front and got bitten, she would've stepped on it.
"I had to get to the hospital like super fast, so I picked Todd up, told Copper to follow me down the hill and ran down the hill," said Paula. "He totally saved me from being bit, and he's my hero."
Todd was given one vial of antivenom at Animal Hospital at Anthem, was watched for 12 hours, and then went home, where he should make a full recovery.
Todd was invited by the Arizona Diamondbacks to walk on the field at their game on Sunday. He was honored as a hero during their "heroes week."
