ANTHEM, AZ — One person was hospitalized after an armed robbery that led to a shooting in Anthem Tuesday.
The person has since stabilized, but remains in critical condition, according to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office officials.
On Friday, MCSO officials released a statement saying the agency is partnering with the FBI Phoenix Office to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the two suspects who remain outstanding.
MCSO officials have also confirmed the person who was shot is an employee at Andrew Z Diamonds and Fine Jewelry.
MCSO officials say an armed robbery at an Andrew Z jewelry store was reported near Anthem Way and Gavilan Peak Parkway sometime before 6 p.m.
Surveillance footage two people walking into the store pointing a gun at people inside. No further suspect description has been given.
Officials say surrounding businesses went into a lockdown for a few hours.
ABC15 spoke to those who rushed to check on family and friends.
"I had a friend who was over at Legends when it happened. He posted it on his story and he was, he was traumatized by it because he'd experience shootings back when he was younger," said Luke Pickering.
Brooke Hebert says her friends also posted to social media saying, 'we're stuck in work, we don't know what to do'.
“There were a few customers on the patio, and I saw them reacting to something,” said one of the Legends Bar and Grill's General Mangers Shelly Pock.
Pock said she heard people saying someone was shot.
One of those customers at the bar and grill, was a man named Jack.
He didn’t want his face on camera or his full name shared, but Jack said he knew just moments before shots were fired something wasn’t right.
“I saw the two guys run over and what they were wearing and I said oh crap there’s going to be a robbery,” said Jack.
So he got up and dialed 911, Jack and others told ABC15 the two people were dressed in all black and wearing motorcycle helmets.
“Suspect number one opened the door,” said Jack. “Suspect number two went in behind him and he had the gun out at that time and black gloves.”
He said they were in and out in what seemed like just a minute.
“I hear the shots,” said Jack. “They come running out and they go through the breezeway.”
He said that the people seemed to know what they were doing.
Officials say a suspect is outstanding.
ABC15 crews saw police vehicles along I-17 near the Anthem Way exit, as officials appeared to search for the suspect.
As a veteran, Jack leapt into action. He said he immediately went to Andrew Z Jewelry and found a man shot.
“I grabbed his hand,” said Jack. “I said hey buddy, brother just relax slow your breathing down everything is okay we’ve got help coming for you.”
Jack said when he found the man he wasn’t in good condition and was shot multiple times. He did say the man was still awake and breathing.
At Andrew Z, people are already leaving flowers and notes.
A sign hangs in the front door letting customers know the store is temporarily close.
MCSO wouldn’t answer ABC15’s specific questions. Deputies did say the person shot is still considered critical but is now stable.
“I hope they catch these guys,” said Jack.
Jack is now hoping the man he helped continues to heal, and he can one day meet him.
MCSO is asking for anyone with information on this incident to call 602-876-1011 and reference report #IR22-018175.
